November 6th, 2008
Ambergris Cay, Turks & Caicos, BWI – Turks & Caicos Sporting Club at Ambergris Cay’s resident Naturalists, TJ Jett and Lindsay Mensen, will travel to Providenciales on November 6th and 7th to speak to students at The Ashcroft School & Providenciales Primary School. The Naturalist team will prepare a surprise presentation for Turks & Caicos students, speaking about the incredible island of Ambergris Cay and the exciting role of a Naturalist in preserving and conserving the beauty, wonder and natural flora and fauna of the island. After a brief presentation, students will break out into small groups where they will work with the Naturalists on performing an algae dissection, as well as engage in a show-and-tell of a Bahama Boa Constrictor & Curly Tailed Lizard.
Ambergris Cay takes great interest in forming relationships with the local Providenciales school systems as increasing awareness in ecological preservation, and human influence on the environment is significant for children’s’ studies. All students will leave the Naturalist presentation with Ambergris Cay-themed coloring books which offer students a chance to showcase their prized artwork at Providenciales International Airport in Winter 2009. Colored pages can be submitted to Ambergris Cay for display at the airport. The chosen student pictures will rotate periodically.
In support of this initiative, Digicel will be sponsoring the frames that will be used to showcase the students’ works.
“Digicel is always happy to support initiatives that seek to promote a healthy environment,” states E. Jay Saunders, General Manager, Digicel. “This program by the Turks & Caicos Sporting Club at Ambergris Cay shows that we share a common vision when it comes to ensuring that the Turks & Caicos Islands remain Beautiful by Nature, and we are happy to partner with them on this.”

Greatprogram! Thanks Ambergris Cay. My 4 year old daughter was most excited to pet the snake.
