Last night, over 20 clients and friends of Dr. Steven Shoshany and Dr. Arnold Blank gathered in Soho to commemorate the opening of Living Well Medical, PC, and an evening with Turks & Caicos Sporting Club. Dave Purpora, DPS Senior VP of Sales, spearheaded the evening’s creation in which guests gathered at the new medical facility to enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeurves and partake in an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to win a “Safari Experience” package to Turks & Caicos Sporting Club at Ambergris Cay. Guests were delighted to meet featured artists, Susan Ruddick and Jeff Mayer, whose photography was on display in the gallery. And as the sole sponsor for the evening, Turks & Caicos Sporting Club had a display set up with marketing materials as well as a TV playing a looped DVD on Ambergris Cay. Every guest left the reception with a DPS sponsored gift bag. We look forward to our continued partnership with Dr. Steven Shoshany and Living Well

Turks and Caicos Islands; Wednesday, November 19, 2008- The Turks and Caicos will celebrate its growing and productive tourism commerce, during this year’s annual Tourism Awareness Week. This year’s events will take place from November 22nd to the 29th under the theme, “Empowering the Hosts Population through Product Knowledge”

“Through these events, not only during Tourism Awareness Week, but also in the future, we will not only discover more about what various tourist facilities that Turks & Caicos has to offer our visitors and what tourists have long loved about the TCI but we will also recognize, for ourselves, the value of tourism as a tool for promoting economic development, creating wealth and alleviating poverty,” said Lindsey Musgrove, Director of Tourism.

The observance of Tourism Awareness week was initially celebrated in 1989, as a means to advance the culture of the Turks & Caicos, elevate awareness about the significance of tourism, and promote appreciation for the people that are the key components of the tourism industry.

This year, the Tourist Board will build on these objectives, as a campaign has been made to host a plethora of activities throughout the TCI, including an opening ceremony and motorcade in Providenciales on Saturday November 22nd starting from Pizza Pizza restaurant at 4PM and ends at the National Stadium for speeches from Tourism officials.

Church services are to be held at various Baptist churches on Sunday November 23rd; School visits on Monday November 24th; High School Speech Competition in South Caicos at the Regatta Village at 10AM on Tuesday November 25th; Tourism Awareness Conference at Beaches Turks & Caicos at 9:30AM to 4:30PM on Wednesday November 26th; Quiz Competition at The Dillon Hall in Grand Turk at 6:30PM on Thursday November 27th; Career Day at The Palms Resort in Provo from 10AM to 2PM on Friday November 28th and culminates with a Cultural Day in Grand Turk at the down town Gazebo at noon on Saturday November 29th.

For more information on Tourism Awareness Week, or any other tourism related matter, kindly contact the Turks and Caicos Islands Tourist Board on (649) 946-4970 or visit www.turksandcaicostourism.com

Last night, over 40 members of Families in Business- the publication from Campden Media targeted at family-owned companies in at least their second generation and having a turnover of at least €100m – celebrated The Families in Business New York Conference, “How Our Families Thrive in Difficult Times,” during a cocktail reception at Bonham’s Auction House in midtown Manhattan. Following the first evening of the two-day Camden Conferences at The Metropolitan Club – the sixth private forum for leading family businesses in North America – Families in Business members, noted conference speakers and DPS representatives mingled for a two-hour cocktail reception in which DPS Sporting Club Development was the primary sponsor.

A looped presentation of The DPS Vision Video played on the entire wall sized television display as guests entered into Bonham’s, and as they ventured downstairs to the galleries they were greeted with passed hors d’oeurves and cocktails. DPS Senior VP of Sales, Dave Purpora welcomed guests to the cocktail reception, and immediately after, curators from Bonham’s shared details about the current collections on showcase at the Auction House. DPS had an additional display of marketing collateral at the entrance to the event, and a group of sales and marketing representatives shared in the festivities, talking to leading business families about Turks & Caicos Sporting Club and The Greenbrier Sporting Club. DPS looks forward to a continued relationship with Families in Business and Campden Media.

Over the weekend, The Travel Channel came out to shoot a segment for their brand new show “Bridget’s Sexiest Beaches” on Ambergris Cay. The show airs in Spring of next year, and will feature a segment about real estate on a private island in the Caribbean; Ambergris Cay. It was so exciting to see the host, Bridget, be toured around the island doing a variety of island activities with our Outdoor Pursuits representative; Byron Sewell. Bridget was filmed catching a barracuda (in literally 3 seconds!), conch diving, finding a starfish, kayaking, strolling on the beach, touring the cottages and SO much more! Many of the Ambergris Cay staff pitched in to help with the show and the day could not have gone any better! Thanks to The Travel Channel and Ambergris Cay!
Angler Tucker Brubaker caught this twenty eight pound Tarpon on fly near the safari tents. Captained by Byron. This fish was hooked around 4:15 on the 14th and landed around 4:45. It was caught on a ten weight rod and the fly was a jerk chicken. What a fun time!

Yesterday, local Provo Resort Concierge persons toured Ambergris Cay – starting off with a tour around the island, lunch at Calico’s and then a boat trip over to little Ambergris Cay which was a blast. Non-stop comments of “wow”, “this is not what I expected”, “we’re in love with the Le Grand Cottages” and “we want to stay over” were continuous. Resort representatives in attendance were Amanyara, the Sands, the Meridian Club on Pine Cay, Le Vele and West Bay Club.
