While there, the TCI Supermodel has scheduled meetings with ten of the City’s most prestigious modelling agencies, three of which having already expressed great interest in representing the Turks and Caicos resident. In addition to that, Davia will also do a fashion shoot with a noted NYC fashion photographer, to give her an added edge.
“This is huge for a new model anywhere to have that many agencies in one city looking not only meet with you, but also the potential being there to be signed and represented by one of the World’s leading agencies is enormous,” said Mr. Courtney Robinson, Executive Producer of the TCI Supermodel Contest and Fashion Extravaganza, who is taking the winner to New York to ensure that she has the best of starts.
“New York is the epicentre of high fashion, commercial and editorial modelling; and any model starting their career there has many doors open to Fashion Avenue. Davia is going to be exposed to the best in the business and a chance to spring board her modelling career to markets such London, Paris and Milan – and as far away as South Africa and Japan.”
“Davia is an amazing young lady, an exotic beauty,” stated Robinson, adding: “She’s very professional, level headed and ready for this business. I know that she will succeed and be one of those positive role models to young girls in the Turks and Caicos looking to get in the industry, and by in large, help put the TCI on the fashion map. I am truly honoured to know her, and more than delighted to play a role in her development.”
As part of her prizes, Davia travelled to Ambergris Cay to do a photo shoot for a Digicel TCI ad campaign and a Times of the Islands’ Summer 2009 edition pictorial spread. She also won a Digicel Blackberry Storm cellular phone with monthly top-ups for a year; $1,500.00 cash, $500.00 of which came from TCI Bank Ltd in the form of a savings account and a profile page in Destination: Turks and Caicos Islands 2010 edition, the sister publication of Times.
At present, Davia practises her runway walk, model poses, facial expressions and research the fashion industry regularly. In so doing, she said: “I have to see what’s going on, the trends, which models are hot at the moment, and what designers and photographers to look out for. This is important to my future career, as the more I know the better.”
Of the trip, Davia says: “While on this trip, my intention is get signed by one of the agencies that Mr. Robinson has set up for us to meet with. My most important appointments are with Wilhelmina, Ikon and Q Model Management; hopefully, I get signed by one of those,” beamed the TCI Supermodel titleholder.
