The well known Italian TV channel, Ria Tre came to Ambergris Cay to shoot for their TV show, Timbuctu. The show, Timbuctu is about the human interaction with animals from the wild. The TV crew had been filming throughout Turks & Caicos and arrived on Ambergris their last day with a request to see whales. Now everyone knows how lucky you have to be to see whales and you can’t quite schedule them for a TV show! The day was planned packed with content for the show and it was perfect timing as we had Dr. Glenn Gerber and his team from the San Diego Zoo as guests to the cay! The crew was shown around the island, and we had a special segment where Dr. Gerber spoke about the Bahama Boa shooting near Hawkin’s Beach. After, we went on to film a special segment about the Rock Iguanas with Lindsay at Calico’s. The iguanas had no problem appearing for their call time! Finally Bryon and I took the crew out to do some underwater filming. We were nervous and hoped to see a whale, all the while concentrating on filming the stingrays, Groupers and Lion Fish with Davide (the host) snorkeling. We were about to wrap up the shooting and head back to catch a flight but with Ambergris teamwork between the captains of the Caravan airplane just about to land and Byron, and just like magic, what do we find? WHALES waving and flipping their tails for the camera! We were in LUCK! It was another great day on Ambergris!
Check back on the blog for air date as the show will airing this summer!
